Does religion really matter in marriage life?

We are not married yet. I'm a Buddhist and I'm somehow religious. He is an agnostic. Basically he is a nice guy, caring, funny and warm-hearted. But when it comes to religion, I can't accept that he doesn't respect or serious about my religion.

I think it would be a problem in long term relationship after we got married. And how would we guide our children in religious matter?
